When is everyone bathing their baby

My baby is 5 days old and wondering if it’s ok to bathe her with washcloths and wet her hair

We gave him a bath at 5 days old. He still had his cord and his circumcision thing. We put him in the sling that came with the bathtub and filled the water to where it wouldn’t submerge his circumcision or belly button. We were told we could get them wet, just not submerge them in water. He did perfectly fine and his belly button fell off about 3 days later. We just cleaned his bellybutton out with alcohol and a q too after to make sure no soap was trapped in there.

my nurse said a spondge bath with warm soapy water but  dont sumerge the cord, let it fall off

if her umbilical cord already fell off i would. if not then i wouldn’t because you can get the cord wet. probably would do a sponge bath

If you mean just use a washcloth to clean the baby and not put them in a tub of water then yes.

The book I have from the American Academy of Pediatrics says “Three times a week during the first year may be enough” and to only sponge bathe until the umbilical stump falls off. Then you can start submerging her in water.

I give my little girl a bath every 2-3 days. I really just stick her on the sling and wipe her down with some warm water. She normally starts to smell like formula after day 1 lol. She’ll be two weeks old tomorrow and still has her cord. Once that falls off then I’ll put her in her baby tub and let her enjoy the water more
