So, I finally decided to get off birth control and trying to conceive. But I’m struggling trying to know my body again..

I had my daughter back in 2014 and immediately got in the Depo shot, I stayed on it for 6 months and then was introduced to Nexplanon (back when it was Implanon) by my doctor since we all figured I was definitely not ready to have anymore kids soon or possibly ever again (I was 16 when I made this decision and in a very abusive relationship).

Well, years passed and along the way I met the love of my life and was introduced into what real love and a real family should be, so now that I’m at a point in my life where my husband and I are reaching our success and living a stable happy life with my first born we decided to try for a boy of our own.

Now since I have been on birth control for 4 years, I’m trying to know my body again without the birth control.

6 months of Depo

3 years of Nexplanon(Implanon),

6 more months of Depo again..

My last shot was supposed to be back on September 4th but we finally decided it was time to get off of it.. now because back when I was 16 I never planned to have kids again because of my situation I never really paid attention or cared about the effects of the Depo shot.. but now I’m trying to conceive and have read some scary stuff..

So do any of you ladies have any suggestions about how to get to know your body again after birth control like this? How can I start keeping track of my body and it’s changed?

I started spotting yesterday so I thought maybe it could be a sign to start keeping track again..

My last period was also back on July 29- August 8. It was the first long period I ever had ever since I got on any birth control, this flow came after I made the transition from the implant back on to the Depo shot.

If any of you ladies have had this experience, I could truly use some suggestions on where to start or what’s even going on, lol! Thanks in advance!
