Smoked Salmon

Monique

Just need some clarification - is smoked salmon allowed? My midwife says it isn’t and i was eating it throughout the early stages of pregnancy, but have obviously stopped now.

However; i have seen other pregnant women eating it sooo i’m a little confused 🤷🏾‍♀️

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/foods-to-avoid-pregnant/ This nhs site says smoked fish is ok. Its making sure it’s fresh as the bacteria that is harmful will develop quickly on opened/not correctly stored food. I had smoked salmon when pregnant throughout. I just made sure it was a fresh pack with a long use by date and made sure I ate it on day/day after it was opened. Not sure if I would trust it in shop made sandwiches etc though

It’s fine as long as you don’t have too much because technically it’s cooked. I’ve been eating it!

As long as it's cooked properly, and I think your suppose to be limited to 2x a week.

Yeah. It’s like cold meats, like salami etc. They hold harmful bacteria like listeria which is harmful to you and baby
