What size and how many baby clothes to buy??

Hi it's my first pregnancy after years of TTC and a miscarriage. 14 weeks and im super nervous and excited! Looking for some advice ... I want to start buying baby clothes and I'm not sure how many of each size to buy! Did many people buy you small size clothes as gifts? How long do they spend it each size? Are there some things worth having more of? I'm worried I'll buy too much and never use some bits do they really go through lots of baby grows daily?? Xxx

Depending on how often you want to do laundry I would get, in each size, 6-12 sleepers, pants and short sleeve onesies. Depending on the weather and time of year 2-6 long sleeve onesies. Also 2-4 jackets or sweaters. Maybe 2-4 hats and 12 pares of socks. It might sound like a lot, but laundry is pretty much the last thing you'll feel like doing while caring for a newborn. And some babies (like mine) spit up a lot and have blowouts.

I got a few newborn pajamas and outfits maybe 5-10 pair each as they definitely don’t stay in them long but with baby spit up you will be changing clothes often.. lots of 0-3 maybe 10-20 outfits/pajamas and I bought just a few outfits in different sizes from there. You never actually know how many clothes your going to need I kinda bought one outfit every time I went to store after baby was born .

As a long-time admiring aunt I’ve always purchased gifts for babies in the 3-6 month age range, as there are always other people who go crazy buying the 0000s and it only fits them for such a short time!! With bub on the way, we have a friend gifting us their newborn onesies as their LO will be 4mo by then, and focusing our purchasing on snug stuff for the cold winter we’ll be facing once bub is 3 months or so 😊

My last baby was 10lbs 13oz so we had newborn and 0-3 months that he never even wore. He went home In 3-6 months and forget newborn diapers-he was in a size 1 😫. However I had GD and this isn’t the normal. Even my 8 lb 11oz and 8lb 13 oz babies fit into newborn clothes for at least a week :)   But what you really like and don’t overdo it. Especially if your going to have a baby shower.

Iv 6 babygrows 6  vests and bibs for the hospital that’s all I’m buying until I no the gender. Partner will pick up clothes on the way to collect us. Not wasting money on stocking up on clothes that may not fit and neutral colours as I no my family and I will go mad shopping when baby is here

My baby was 8.3 lbs and fit better in the 0-3 month stuff from birth. The newborn stuff was mostly tight. Thankfully we didn’t buy clothes but were given hand me downs and we had a lotttttt of newborn clothes but he never wore them
