I’m a little nervous to go to the Gynecologist. I’m 17, it’ll be my first time ever going and I don’t know what to expect. I’ve had 1 sexual parter, my current boyfriend, but I just don’t want my mom to know I’m sexually active yet. I do plan on telling her once I’m on birth control but I just don’t want the doctors or anyone to say anything. She will be at the appointment but I want to tell the doctor I am sexually active for my health so how does that work? I read that it’s a confidentiality thing and they’re not allowed to say anything without my permission but how will they know if I want her to know or not if she’s there the whole time? How does it go down? Is there some time where the doctor will ask her to leave or do they not allow the parent in the room at all or what should I do?
