Birth photography

Anyone done this before? Having someone photograph the birth and the moments after birth? I really want it this time around as this will be our last baby. I know my photographer who is a close friend who is like family would so do this for us. But I'm wondering if anyone has done it and felt strange. I don't want out own mothers at the birth, but I do want it to be captured.
