Face / body gets numb during sex?

Whenever I have sex, my face and body (typically my arms) get super numb. I'm pretty sure it's not a sign of orgasm as I don't experience this when masturbating. Does anyone else experience this or know what could potentially be the cause?

I had this happen for the first time last night. It freaked me out. We had sex twice and it happened both times my face was completely numb, along with my hands and the second time it was so tingly that I stopped kind of responding to what he was doing and just laid on the bed with my arms flat beside me and I couldn't move them. He looked it up and said that it can happen if you are super turned on but I think it was from breathing heavily really (too much oxygen) however it was weird it happened so suddenly exactly when we first started. I was fine and all of a sudden I just went numb. It was like I was almost pass out drunk. Weird. But we read it happens to many people.
