Too young?

I had my son when I was 18 (two months away from 19) and he was definitely a surprise for my SO and I. But now we’re talking about when we plan to have more and we would like them to be sort of close in age. So we planned for when he is 4 to start trying. Then I thought about it and i’ll still only be 22/23 years old. I just feel like that’s too young to have two kids or that people might think that. My family keeps saying not for another 8-10 years but I don’t want my kids growing up too far away from each other! Anyone else experience this of had kids this young how did you do it? Would you change the difference in age?

First of all when it comes to building your family take what your family says and chuck it out the window.

This is your family you and your SO are making. It's what you envision and want for that. Anyone outside of tgat can offer their opinions but that's all it is. I wouldn't want to have 8 years between my kids either! That's totally fair. 
If you are ready for number two when your first is four that sounds lovely. Go for it! 
Besides when family meets that second kid I'm sure they'll change their tune

By the time you are 22/23, your friends will probably be having kids as well...so it won’t be as “shocking” as your surprise pregnancy.
I think if you can provide for another kid...go for it.

Had my first at 22 and now 2nd at 23. I wouldn't want such a huge gap! You guys plan for what you want for your family. No one else has a say but you two.

I had my first at 20 and I waited 10 years for my second because of the same thing “too young, not enough room, not enough money etc.” and I regret waiting so long. By the time it hit me that waiting was a mistake it took us over a year to conceive. 
My aunt told me “there will never be enough time, money, or space, but it’s always so worth it” so I suggest no more than 5 years, forget your age! As long as you can afford it, just do it sooner rather than later

Nope just follow your gut feeling and make a decision based on what you as couple want. There's no appropriate age for having kids. I'm 42 and had my first at 40. I don't think I'll have any more because I'm soooo tired with my first but that's how I feel. (Though I love babies). I mean by all means listen to different points of view but you should in the end make your own decision. Good luck 😊

I had my first at 20. And my second at 21. The. My third at 28. And now this one will be 30. Lol. I wouldn’t want them to be any further apart then my 2nd and 3rd already are. There’s a 7 year difference. And as for your family saying that. Let it go in one ear and out the other. You do what is going to make the two of you happy. Just saying. I had two by the time I was 22. And it wasn’t any harder than it is now. It’s your family and your life. Live it and love it.
