Breast pump through BCBSIL?

Question

Any ladies with Blue Cross have details about getting a breast pump through insurance? I asked a rep early on in my pregnancy but she was so vague on what was available. It sounded like she wanted me to order through one of their partners but I'd much rather pick one out at the hospital. The doctor said she would write a prescription, I don't know if that makes a difference. 🤷‍♀️

I ordered mine from EdgePark with BCBS. It took a couple of weeks to get but it was a very simple process. That was the only way they said I could do it.

I have bcbs and I ordered mine through aeroflow. Was covered 100% most of the websites will do the work for you like calling your insurance and getting the rx from your doctor.

When I called BCBS of Georgia they gave me the 2 websites they work with, EdgePark and Byram. I went with EdgePark because they had a better selection. I filled my information out online. They contacted my doctor to get the script. My breast pump was mailed out the next day. Whole process took about a week, including delivery. Most insurance companies wont process the request until you hit your 3rd trimester, though.

I was able to get one through BCBS and it was paid at 100%. My midwife wrote a prescription for it and I sent it in to the durable medical company that had the pump I wanted (Medela). The hospital did not offer Medela so I decided to order somewhere else. You should be able to find options for durable medical supplies on the BCBS website...I had to call a few before I found one with the right pump. They also billed insurance directly which was nice.
