Carriers/ slings

I’m going to be a FTM in the next week or 2.. I received a baby carrier as a gift, and I’m excited to use it! But I’m wondering if it is more practical to get a fabric one/sling for when he is really little? Or maybe the one I have is just fine? Not even sure how much I’d use either, so any anyone with experience on them please let me know your experience! I’ll add a picture of the one I have..
