Can you regret forgiving someone? Or does it mean that your forgiveness wasn't 100%?

I don't believe in forgive and forget and I've been told that means I didn't fully forgive someone.🤷‍♀️ I don't give a flying fart. I'll give someone a chance and forgive them for whatever they had done, but I will not forget and leave myself open to be wronged again. Not sorry.

You can regret it. If you forgive them and they screw you over again, then yeah I’d regret giving them a second chance too. But even if they didn’t screw you over again, I think it’s normal to have doubts and trust issues regarding whatever transpired. Things can affect you differently dependent on the day. Maybe you do forgive them but you’re not 100% over it.

Yes you can forgive  someone  100%.... then they go and do something  else that makes you regret your decision.   So thats something  else you can now choose  to forgive or not.  Something completely different  than the 1st forgiveness

When I forgive someone, what I mean is that I’m choosing to not carry around the weight of what they did to me anymore. It doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten what they did or that I’ll provide them with the opportunity to hurt me again. It just means that I’ve chosen not to dwell on their actions or go out of my way to be hostile to them, because they simply don’t deserve that level of energy from me. So for me, I honestly can’t see how I’d regret forgiving someone. I think if you do regret it, that means you didn’t really fully mean it to begin with.

I think so. Just because you regret it doesn’t mean your forgiveness was not whole hearted.

The act of forgiving someone is an ongoing choice. 
If someone does something against you and you forgive them.. there will probably come a time where you think about what happened and you have to remind yourself that you chose to forgive them and put it behind you. If you choose to keep holding a grudge over what happened, I don't think you really forgave the person for what happened..or at least you're not choosing to keep it in the past. 
If they do something after you've forgiven them to do further damage, that's a different story.

You can forgive someone for something, but I don’t believe that forgiveness is a step - it’s a process. If there’s a need for forgiveness, there was hurt and pain, and that requires healing over time. In the end, however, forgiveness is always, ALWAYS the most beautiful and best outcome, and we should always aim to forgive (even if it takes us awhile).
