Cytotec (misoprostol) induction?

Question

I'm scheduled to be induced in less than 2 weeks at 37 weeks exactly. Dr said we will use misoprostol and then after some progress break my water. She said we may not even use pitocin at all. My previous inductions were with pitocin. Can anyone tell me about their experience with misoprostol induction?

Cytotec actually helped me go into active labor . I was 2cm when I went in due to high blood pressure and 0% efface .  Within the four hours I went to 6cm and 100%efface with the first round .  2 hours later I was ready to push.  My contractions were not bad but the pressure when his head was coming down was intense .  So I had a good fast experience.

My midwife explained that cytotec only softens your cervix, it doesn't cause dilation. It's usually used in conjunction with pitocin, to help the pitocin work more efficiently if you haven't already gone into labor naturally.
I was induced at 36 weeks due to IUGR and low fluid. I had 4 doses of cytotec (one dose every 4 hours) and although I was having contractions the whole time, I didn't progress past 1 cm. We ended up using a folley bulb to get active labor started, and finished up with pitocin to get the job done.

I had a misoprostol induction at 41 weeks 3 days and it went great! I was at 3 cm when I took the first dose. The contractions started out kind of like menstrual cramps and then increased in intensity as the hours passed. The goal is to mimic the natural progression of labour. My sister had Pitocin and said the contractions were super intense right away with no real build up.
Once my contractions were close enough and regular enough to be considered "active labour" it was about 6 hours until my baby was born. It was around 13 hours total from the first dose of misoprostol.
I was able to have the natural birth I wanted. Since I wasn't stuck in bed with an IV, I used the birthing ball and tub (which was fantastic!) to help with pain. It was an incredible experience!

Do not use Cytotec it is not for inductions it can rupture your uterus; do some more research online before you let them induce you.

May I ask why she is inducing at 37 instead of letting your body doing its own process. I’m going through the same thing. I just need some insights.
