Has anyone had a Laparoscopy to diagnose infertility?

My husband and I are unexplained. I’ve been debating if I should have this done. My first fertility doctor suggested it but every other doctor i spoke with said there was nothing showing I needed It done. And even if they found something It might not help our chances or fix the problem. I would love some advice, thanks!

My RE doesn’t want me to do a laparoscopy either, but in some cases it’s the only way to diagnosis endometriosis (mild, growing outside uterus and tubes, some RE don’t believe mild affects fertility). But to more invasive and actual surgery. If you wanted something less invasive a saline sonogram or HSG both also provide better views than a standard ultrasound.

I had a lap done almost 10 years ago to diagnosis and treat (laser out) my endo. My endo never grew back and it made periods more bearable compared to what they were. Unfortunately my tubes were so barely damaged from my endo I was unable to conceive naturally. However, Have a 2 year old daughter from our first round of ivf and 17 weeks with number 2 from a left over frostie. 
In terms of recovery I was ok after about 3 days it is painful if they have to treat endo. But I imagine it isn’t as bad if there’s nothing to treat.  Good luck x

We did a laparoscopy and let me tell you, it has completely changed my fertility! My Dr is one of the few on the country that actually fully excises the endometriosis instead of burning it and leaving some behind. He's never had a patient have endo "grow back". After the sorbet though, my cycles are pain free and my egg reserves have increased and my body responded really well to the stim shots. Whereas before, my body was developing cysts. This first round of ivf after the surgery we got double the follicles that they were expecting. And originally they were expecting 3 rounds to get the number of follicles that we got in just this 1! So I would highly recommend it if it could be the reason

Yes, ended up getting my left tube taken out. Still having problems. May have to get the right taken too :(:(

Both HSG and laparoscopy-if you don’t need it don’t do it. Most say recovery is a breeze..I was in some serious pain from the L for well over a month.
