Non alcoholic wine??

So I’m not quite ready to tell friends and family as I’m only 5w5d. I went to get some non alcoholic wine so I could pretend to be drinking but I noticed the bottle says “less than 0.5% alcohol” wtf?! Has anyone had this during pregnancy? I know the percentage is super low and I don’t really want to take any risks but is something that low something to avoid if I just have a glass or two on the rare occasion before I tell everyone?

You could just have sparkling grape juice if you can hide the bottle. Then you would feel 100% confident in your choice.

I had the same question and asked our friend who is a doctor. He said no amount of alcohol is safe and wouldn’t chance it. When I had to fake drinking I rinsed out a bottle of gin and filled it with water. I pretended to mix “gin and tonic” and even had sliced lemon and lime. Fooled my family!

Also, I’m so annoyed that the “non-alcoholic” wine has an alcohol content, albeit small but still! There are multiple reasons why someone needs to avoid alcohol all together 😤

You’re completely fine!  that’s the amount of alcohol O’Douls has too, you’d have to drink 20+ non alcoholic beers for it to affect you

I went to a girls night and wasn’t ready to tell anyone yet. I bought a cheap bottle of red wine, dumped it out, and filled it up with cranberry juice and grape juice so the color was right. No one could tell a difference.

There’s a brand called Fre that is sooo yummy! It actually tastes like wine without being too grape juicy. Plus it actually looks like a wine bottle too so most people are none the wiser. The white Zinfandel is the best one. I drank some on special occasions throughout both my pregnancies!

Not worth it to me. My dr said fetal alcohol syndrome is a spectrum disorder with even small amounts of alcohol having an impact. Find something else.
