Too much sleep?

My son will be two weeks old on Wednesday and I feel like all he does is sleep.. I’m a ftm so I’m wondering is this normal? He wakes up to eat but that’s about it.

Yes, for several weeks it seems like they exist to sleep. For the first 6 weeks or so they’re usually only alert for a total of about an hour a day.

My daughter will be 12 weeks Thursday. I use to worry that she slept to much because this kid can SLEEP. She’s eating fine, meeting all her developments on or before schedule, and is usually always in a good mood (unless she misses her big afternoon nap) some parents just get lucky and have a kid who likes to sleep. Enjoy it while you can! It may not last forever. I take advantage of every second that I can of that sleep loving child of mine.
