Flat/Invented Nipples
I just found out I'm pregnant with my third baby, and I'm not sure what to do about my flat/inverted nipples( they are truly inverted with the pinch test but lay flat normally) and low milk supply. With my firstborn, I had a lot of problems getting him to latch and I figured it was partly my inverted nipples and partly that he was a weaker baby since he was in the NICU for a week with breathing problems. At that point I had an abundant milk supply. I used a nipple shield and shells but I got frustrated after 3 weeks and switched to formula. With my second I knew my nipples may be a problem, so I tried talking to a lactation consultant early before birth and they did nothing, just said to come back after I had the baby, which I did. But the second time around was just as bad as with the first, serious latch problems and very low milk supply. I tried tons of fenugreek and oatmeal, pumping, shields, shells with no luck. If I did get him to latch it would just slip back out after a few minutes. Again I gave up after 3 weeks. With this pregnancy I'm really not sure what to do? Do I try again and put my self through the exhausting hell that breastfeeding is for me? Or do I just use the bottle off the bat and not give the baby the the best nutrition for it? I just ordered the Phillips Nipplette, has anyone used it? Does it work? Any advice would be great, I truly want to breastfeed but I don't think it's possible.
