Baby develops a heartbeat around 5 weeks, when it begins to look more peanut shaped and less like a ball of cells. The heartbeat is just tiny and really hard to detect at that gestational age. It's recommended to wait until 7 weeks to view it on ultrasound when baby also has a fetal pole.

My ob says it starts beating/building the heart around three weeks but you can’t really see it beating until six

it's really early that's why if they have heart issues (like my daughter) they tell you there's nothing you did to cause it.
