Which doctor has final say?

Who has the final say on your birth options, your regular doctor or whoever you are currently seeing?
I went for a check up today. 35.3 weeks. They did my Group b and checked to see if I've started dilating. Cervix closed. Tatertot still at -5. When they tried to listen to his heart the doctor made a comment that Tatertot was still very high up. Immediately he started talking about scheduling a c-section at 39 weeks. So I said that none of the other doctors want to do that. They want me to try for a vaginal birth first. His comment was, "why waste your time when at the end, you're going to need a csection anyway". I told him I wanted to see my regular doctor next week before I move forward with anything. I feel like, at 35 weeks, I still have plenty if time for Tatertot to drop.

This is why I don't like OB or giving birth in hospitals because they're all intervention happy and don't care that the maternal and fetal death rate is increasing or the c section rate is sky high. 
I'd skip the cervix checks because they're meaningless. And you can go into labor on your own and the baby can drop down when it's ready. Just stay active and walk a lot.

YOU have the final say. Don’t be bullied into a c-section that you don’t want. If you want to give birth naturally then I would make that very clear. You’re 35 weeks, that is plenty of time for baby to drop down, and the baby won’t fully drop until you’re in labor. It sounds like that doctor is knife happy, obviously he gets paid way more from a cesarean, and I would tell him HELL NO. You make the calls on your body and your baby.

If your baby looks fine, find a birthing center near you and look up other ways. Water births or anything.

Your assigned doctor usually has the final say in your care. If it’s a medical office with multiple doctors, it’s usually the doctor who you see regularly that signs off on the paperwork. I would wait and bring it up at the next appointment you have with your regular doctor. If there is no medical emergency then I would advise you speak to your actual doctor first. 35 weeks is still preterm and a lot can happen in 5 weeks. I don’t know why they’d be discussing labor and delivery this early anyway since you’re not full term yet. Do whatever you feel is right for your health and your baby. A c-section is a major surgery that shouldn’t be taken so lightly and thrown around. Good on you for standing up for yourself.

Here how I feel An in on baby 3 . Neither doctor has final say you do. Like I tell all my health care staff I will take their advice into consideration as well as my spouses and my own research and then let them know what is decided. At the end of the day unless it's a life or death emergency I will make all the final decisions. It has worked out great with the last two An thus far with him.

The person who has the final say in your birthing options is you, not any doctor! If this guy is telling you something that doesn’t make sense, you don’t agree with and your regular doctor isn’t concerned with I’d tell your regular doctor you do not want this person delivering your baby when you go into labor if there are any other doctors on call.
