Too similar?

I really love the name Ember, but I was thinking of different nick names we would probably end up calling her and it would probably be Em and Emmy and I realized that’s so close to my Neice’s name Emily and we call her Emmy. Should I just drop it and think of something else? It’s my sister’s daughter and we’re really close

Ember is fine, but I wouldn’t call her Emmy if you already call your niece Emmy.

My cousin’s name is Emily and I had to write off the name Emerson for a girl for the same reason 😕. I just feel like it’s too close with the Em/Emmy nickname. But you could ask her! Do what you’re comfortable with.

Talk to your sis, maybe it wouldn't bother her at all! If your girls get along growing up, they'll love having similar names. (Although if they don't get along that might bring more tension?!)

LOVE this name, but our daughter won't get it as my husband isn't crazy about it. I feel like it's a short enough name you may not want to shorten it naturally, and if you really like it go with it! Ember and Emily do sound very different!
