When to have sex after birth control?!

Question

So how long do I have to wait to have sex after I take the birth control pill??

I have the combined pill and it's 7 days you can still have sex as long as it's protected but the nurse at the clinic told me only after 7 days can you have unprotected sex. I'm not sure if it's different for the progesterone pill though I highly doubt it is.
