Are Day of the Dead themed pumpkins/decor ok?

Question

I want to make sure I'm not being culturally insensitive. I love the colors, design and message behind day of the dead and was planning on decorating my porch for Halloween in the same theme but I don't want to offend anyone since I'm of a Central American/Caribbean background but not Mexican. Am I over thinking this?

I don’t think it would be insensitive as you are giving appreciation through a beautiful display. I also think though many in Central America and even the Caribbean have began celebrating Dia de los Muertos if I’m not mistaken due to much immigration from those in Mexican culture to those areas so it’s becoming also celebrated in many of those cultures as well I believe but obviously more predominately in those with Mexican culture.

Do you celebrate day of the dead/all souls day? If not you're using another holiday to celebrate Halloween. It's a sacred holiday.
I'm not Mexican but have friends that are and that is what they say. I have a sugar skull named Jorge that I won at a day of the dead party and a little mini ofrenda (spelling?) I made there. I'm catholic and celebrate all souls day, which is similar holiday different traditions.
Some use a sacred holiday and tradition as decor for a non religious holiday.
