Anyone else’s newborn napping only when held?

We’re having a hard time getting the hang of naps. Night sleep is a breeze for little Jack (almost 7-weeks-old). He sleeps in his bassinet throughout the night from 7:00pm ish to 7:00am ish waking up for feedings but going right back to sleep after. 
But naps! I can’t usually get him to nap in his bassinet or crib without a huge fuss and crying fit so I end up holding him or wearing him. Anyone else?

Hey everyone - I follow a newborn sleep consultant in my area who said this is totally normal. She said - just as we learn to crawl before we walk, newborns learn night sleep before daytime naps. So we should continue focusing on night sleep and eventually daytime sleep will follow. In the meantime we should enjoy holding our babies. 🤗

I’m glad I read this post! Similar situation here. My daughter seems to fight sleep during the day, usually takes naps if she’s in the car or stroller. If I try and put her in the bassinet she either wakes  up right away or will sleep 10-20 minutes and wakes up

Same. Sleeping through the night in her crib in her room swaddled but wakes up soon after I lay her down during the day. I sometimes resort to her napping in the swing but she’s gonna outgrow that soon

Saw this and was hoping for a solution- we are in the same boat here. Naps are on a person but sleeping soundly and swaddled in her own at night.

Same here my little guy does wonderful in his bassinet during the night but won’t sleep in it during the day. But he will take naps in his swing! He hated it at first but we kept trying and now he really likes it.

We have the exact same thing going on, I’m typing this as my son is attached to me! I haven’t found any lasting solutions either but I’m just so grateful he’s sleeping decently at night in his bassinet.

Same. I have no advice but my little guy only naps in my arms but is awesome at night.
