How old is your oldest?

While I'll admit I like the idea of peaceful parenting, it seems the posts here have been from parents of "babies". I know personally there are points when I feel I have to yell at my 4 year old because he just doesn't hear me.

My oldest is 14. If I'm frustrated with my kids, it's usually because other things are overwhelming me. Take a minute to breathe, make a plan of how to discipline so you and your kids know the consequences. Try to remember that you want to teach them how to make good choices, how to express their feelings, how to ask questions, how to be respectful. I know it's hard. Maybe go to the library and research child development and parenting styles. Stay positive, attitude changes everything 😀

Mine is twenty-five months. It was easy til she started to show reasoning, even though I know her mind is no where near logical reasoning yet. She is so smart, and so determined! It can be very difficult when you think she understands something (eg. Don't touch things on the counter. They could be hot/sharp/heavy/breakable.) And she does it anyway.

I oldest is 7 and he can be a handful but I try to let my kids express their feeling and I give them the chance to explain but it's hard when he goes to my exs parents house

Oldest is 7 middle will be 5 soon youngest is 2 and due in May. Peaceful parenting is tough at this age. There is so much going on develpent wise, it's hard to keep up with. I find that if I need my 4 yr olds attention, my best bet is to go to him, get down on his level, wait for or ask for eye contact and in a soft voice explain to him what I need him to do. Sometimes this sucks, I just want to yell across the room at h to go due something, but he is always in his head playing and hardly hears me. This is why I do. I hope that helps.

My oldest just turned 18teen shes a good kid, but shes starting to act like shes dont have to help around the house, or hear me yelling for her. Im not really ready to see my daughter act like she needs me only when she wants something but stay out of the way til then.

Oh girl i have a 6 yr old boy and he always is saying what? What? 😡 I took him to the Dr to get his ears checked. They said he could hear just fine. Selective? Idk because I too have to yell so he can hear me. So frustrating. I have to look at him in the eye or make him say yes mom so i know he heard me.

My handsome love is 11 years old (12 in march). He has been my greatest challenge and rewards through the years and I'm so proud of who he has become and can't wait to see what the future holds for him. We also have a 7 and 3 yr old and one on the way. Very blessed. Boy mom all the way!
