Will my nipples ever stop hurting? 😩

Exclusively pumping for my little one who is 3 weeks old. I’m using lanolin and I’ve got the right flange size per LC. Is it normal for my nipples to just...always hurt? 😩

Make sure your suction isnt too high. High suction can actually cause less milk output. It puts too much stress on your nipples and breasts.

I got coconut oil.   It seems to help.

I used lanolin religiously until my LC compares lanolin users to the type of people who put on chapstick a million times a day 😓 she recommended rubbing a little breastmilk on your nipples after feeding and let the breastmilk dry on there (that’s important. Don’t just wrap em back up immediately), and that already seems to be helping me after one day.

One thing I read online was to put breast milk on your nipples. Since I started doing that my nipples don’t hurt quite so bad.

I found when I used medium suction instead of high, my nipples hurt less and I got more milk out. I was pumping on high for a while and I wish I had known to turn the suction down.

Have you tried a nipple shield while pumping? It may lessen the intensity, otherwise turn down the suction ☺️.
