One of my best friends is male to female and she taught me a lot. Yes, they do still need checks. Also to add, they also should inform doctors they had a sex change in case they require immediate medical attention.  Unfortunately there is still a lot of discrimination in the medical field so finding an accepting doctor is important for both mental and physical health. For example, males have bigger hearts than females and it won’t change with hormones and surgery; females on the other hand have faster heart rates. Brains also have differences. 
Anesthesia absorbs differently in females and males, same with certain medications and some diseases are more common or happen only to a certain sex and they won’t go away with surgery or hormones. Lungs are also different sizes in males and females.

It doesn’t matter what you are, if you have a prostate it needs to be checked! Boobs need to be checked! Prostate and breast cancer is so common and is usually treatable if caught early on.

I would assume so. I’m genderqueer and had top surgery years ago but my doctor still does a breast exam because I have a little bit of breast tissue near my armpits.
