If you could move away with your S/O to a place where it’d be much more affordable and easier to live on your own if it meant not being able to see family and friends often anymore?

Boyfriend wants to move to Florida, but all of my family is in jersey. I want to have our own place so bad and I know it’ll be more affordable for us there but I’m so afraid . He said we should try it for a year and if I hate it we can come back . What do you ladies think ?

Never know until you try 🤷🏻‍♀️ I woud do it, but I’m very introverted and don’t really go out with friends and family much.  But I would never move to Florida, it fucking sucks here 😂 I can’t wait to get my ass out of this state next year.

I'll drop some advice. I'm living in the U.K I'm originally from the Caribbean so I'm a 12 hour flight away from family and friends and everything that I have ever known. I moved to the U.K cause I was abused really badly in my last relationship. I moved away alone with only £2,000 to my name and sleeping on someone's couch where I was not wanted. My tips are. If you really are down with your partner and you feel this relationship is a secured relationship then move. Make sure you have savings and money elsewhere for rainy days. He doesn't even need to know about the rainy days money. Put it up. I've had all the issues .. was homeless, no job set in stone, money ran out. I was close to using my return ticket to go back home so many times. So many times I could've ran back home and I refused to. You just need to be prepared. Mentally and financially if not you'll break. Now that I'm pregnant I really wish I was home. For many reasons but the main one is because I have no family here and am though my partner is great there's no support like your immediate family support especially my mother and my father. With this being my first child. I will really need my mother. Please be prepared especially mentally. Good luck with your decision.

me and my bf moved from California to Louisiana over a year ago because California was to expensive to live. it was the best choice we've made cause we were able to get on our feet here. Its been hard not having family around especially after I found out I was pregnant. We support each other through it all.

Husband and I did that after he got out of the military. He’s from Miami and I’m from San Diego. Big, expensive cities. We met in SD and lived there until he got out. Lo and behold, we end up moving to a small town in Northern Utah. My husband makes $10 more an hour than he would have in San Diego, and our rent is less then half of what we were paying in CA and we have a place three times as big here. Houses are alot cheaper so buying at a young age (before 25) is completely doable. We only saw our family once in 2017 after moving and will only see them once again this year. But they understand that we are doing what is best for us and taking all the opportunities to secure our future. Distance is no longer a big problem like it was 80 years ago. We all have phones, we can facetime. And living somewhere cheaper means more money we can save to travel and go see fam whenever we want. Unless there is some extenuating circumstance that makes it difficult to leave, YOU DO YOU. Family should understand that you are doing the best for YOU.

I currently live 12 hours away from my family (soon to be 46 hours when they move farther away)

If I could I would in a heartbeat I love my family but my kids need the future and the upbringing I didn’t have. My family knows at the drop of a dime in out! I was the only one in my family to move and I went to Florida and had a townhouse with a huge backyard and my kids had their own room. I’m now back in NYC in a crowded ass 2 bedroom with a baby on the way and I want a DOG SO BAD!!! so me and my husband are thinking about some serious moves for next year. At the end of the day it’s your life and future family should understand.

My husband and I moved 4 hours away from our moms right after we got married. Cost of living where we moved to was a fraction of where we moved from. I'll not lie, that first year, was SO so hard. My husband and I were still trying to figure each other out, our own roles in the marriage and working on communication, which meant a lot of fights, loneliness, etc. We wanted to succeed, so we worked on it. We eventually met more and more people and decided to put some more permanent roots down and buy a farm there. Fast forward, ten years later, we are very happily married, still living on that farm in the state we moved to, we have a 5 year old daughter, and very few regrets about the move. As another poster mentioned above, it gets harder as a parent being away from your own, man I wish my mama was closer, but that comes and goes in waves, and visits to and from her always help.

I moved 4 hours away from my family and only ever see them once a month or even longer. I enjoy it honestly. But I'm fresh out of college and all that so I'm enjoying alone time for him and I *(even tho we desperately  want to kill each other sometimes)
