Ooops. I meant to post this in the bumpie group, but since I'm here, anyone else having anxiety about family members not following your rules when the baby comes?

The thing I'm mostly worried about is the hubbys family lol. They r sweet but not the neatest ppl in the world. I'm sure I'm just being over protective,  but we lost out son last year after birth due to chorioamnionitis (an infection in the womb) & I know that anything can happen.  Life is fragile.

I don't want them smelling like smoke (all of his family smokes) and touching her. I want them to get their whooping cough vaccines,  to wash their hands before touching her, and to stay away after their initial visit in the hospital,  for at leaat a month. It pisses me off when they laugh at my requests I've made already.  And they think I should pack her up and bring her to their house visit and take her out and I'm like NO! A newborn needs to stay home for the first few months. They say no and I need to expose her so she can build uo an immune system. Wtf? stupidity.  Everyone knows u don't expose a NB to germs. They get mad when I tell them she's gonna stay at home and when I feel she's ready they can come visit MY home for a LITTLE bit to see her.

As u can tell I don't care for them a whole lot. I love them just don't want them around my baby a bunch, becuz they don't make the best life style choices.  But I married their son, which I don't see how he even comes  from them.

I'm juat gonna lay down the rules and if they don't like it then they can start the war.  I feel like im too sweet now, but once shes here, ill be strait foward becuz of motherly instincts. I know my mom has my back :) lol. She feels the same. When my daughter is a little older ill feel more comfortable,  but until then, just staaay awaaay. Lol

I've heard too many times from my husbands father (after a good scoff) "well you three survived just fine!" Yeah, not the answer either of us want to hear.  He had our dog for a year (we had moved and needed a place for our dog until we found a place that would accept her) and he couldn't even respect our wishes when it came to her! Needless to say, he's not having any unsupervised visits for quite a while. The only people we really are trusting him with is our moms. Lol

This does cross my mind! However, we don't see our family very often because we live on the east coast & they all live on the west coast (& HI). We'll see what happens in the future! I'm not too worried about our immediate family members not respecting our wishes, I'm more so worried about extended family, especially because of the fact that we don't see each other very often. It's hard to establish "rules" & for them to remember them if we don't see them very often.

It's bittersweet being so far away from family. It has major cons, but it also has its pros at times.

Not really, because I have a BIG family and if I start worrying about that I would go crazy! The only thing that it's kind of worrying me is that my mom smokes, but I already told her about my issues with this and the baby, so now I'm just gonna wait until he is here! 😍

All the time. Not so much my family but my hubbys family. They all smoke and i want zero smoking around my baby. If we are still living where we are right now when babygirl comes (at his gmas) then there is no way they wont smoke when they come to our room/apartment which will really piss me off. I feel like his mom is gonna want us to come over all the time and want overnights with babygirl but they all smoke inside at their house too and i feel like even if i ask them to not smoke while shes there they still will.

I sometimes worry about family taking care of my baby too. Mostly because after being molested by my own grandmother I have trust issues. Also, my in-laws like to smoke around children so every baby born in that family ends up with asthma and constantly get bronchitis. None of those kids can even breathe. My SIL's kids have this constant rattling in their chest every time they breathe in and they're constantly coughing up loads of phlegm. One is 2 and the other 11 months and they both have to take breathing treatments. They say it's "hereditary" but I'm almost 100% sure that it's because they'll plop down on the bed, baby in one hand, cigarette in the other and just let that baby breathe all that. On top of that they are theives and teach the kids to steal all the time. They laugh when one of the kids walks put of the store with toys, candy, blankets or whatever without paying for it. I'm against stealing so it makes me mad. My side of the family is all drug addicts, in and out of jail and prison, drug dealers, and mentally unstable people. So yeah we officially have no babysitter.
