Going out of town with 1 month old ?

My husband has to go out of town to work for a week he will be in Bakersfield we live in santa ana California it is a 2 hour drive.  recently he got told I could join him if I drive there I'm really considering it because I need his help with the baby still. My question is can a baby stay in a car seat for 2 hour drive ? Would it be safe to take her ? Shes one month old .

We went with my dad all the time when he goes on business trips growing up. He has to go super often usually to Minneapolis so we’d go with sometime. We didn’t obviously go to work or anything with him, but we stayed in the hotel and went to mall of America and such while he was working. He has to go over seas as well and the first time he went to London and Romania my mom went with him. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with going on a business trip with your SO. It’s not like you’re going into work with them.

Yes. It’s fine to go. Plan a stop. Also, if your baby is like mine was, he may scream part of the way (mine is fine in the car now, but HATED being set down for any reason for her first couple months of life).
Honestly, I would go. You need the help. I was terrified when my husband had to go back to work after two weeks. I knew I needed people and I started figuring out how to connect right away. I went to a new mothers/breastfeeding support group. I planned events with my birth class friends. It was still so hard.

Your baby will be fine to ride in the car for 2 hours. He will mostly sleep and you may have to stop to feed and change him. But personally I wouldn't go. My daughter is 3 months and my twin sister lives 2 hours away and I still haven't gone to see her because I like being at home were I have all of her stuff.

The baby would be fine in a car seat ,but if this is a business trip ,you really shouldn't be going .my husband left for 2 weeks and we have a child but I did not go with him because it doesn't look good bring your wife and child on a business trip.bakersfield isnt really safe either.i worry for myself and my daughter on a daily basis.sorry if i should rude .

Yeah it’s totally fine. Realistically you’ll probably be making at least one stop because you don’t want to let baby sit in a poopy diaper in the car seat. It gets smushed and can make a big mess.
