How many hours of sleep?

My 3 week old isn’t sleeping much during the day. I’m concerned he’s not getting enough sleep. How many hours a day should baby be awake and needs to be sleeping at his age?

This is what I found but honestly idk because my little one takes naps of 1hour to 2 hours or 30 mins.

My 3 week old went through this for the last week, wouldn’t sleep during the day, I could maybe get him to have a few 20 minute cat naps here and there but from 8am-4:00pm he just refused to sleep, then at 4:00-4:30 he would pass out and nap hard until I woke him for bath and bedtime, then he would go right back to sleep after. Yesturday was the first day he slept during the day in over a week, he pretty much slept the entire day! I did some research and apparently they go through a growth spurt around this time which could account for their weird sleeping/eating schedule. 🤷‍♀️ newborns change so much, it’s hard to keep up!

I can't find a definitive answer if eating counts as awake. I find some things that say it does, nothing that negates it... But it just says awake time.  What do you ladies think?  I'm concerned mine sleeps too much. Ped appointment Tuesday that I'll bring it up

My daughter can hang out for 2 hours with out sleeping between but she’s sometimes eating twice in that time

Mine is 4 weeks. Sometimes she eats and stays up and sometimes she passes out.

Newborns can sleep 15-20 hours a day. 
I’ve kinda got a loose general schedule that I try to keep with little one. Once our day starts, i usually try to keep her awake between every other feeding, and let her nap between the rest. So she will eat, and then I try to play with her, do tummy time, etc until her next time to feed (sometimes she only stays awake for half an hour or an hour, but I at least make the effort). Then we feed, and I let her nap for a couple hours. Wake to feed every 2-3 hours.Then repeat. That way she doesn’t sleep all day. 
She usually sleeps for 3-4 hour stretches at night and it’s great. We go to bed somewhere between 8-11 depending on when her last nap was, we wake up twice usually to feed throughout the night. And wake up for good around 7 am.
