What’s Everyone’s Thoughts on Cloth Diapers?

Hi everyone,
 I am considering using cloth diapers for baby girl. Please give me pros & cons especially about cost 💵 💵 💵 
Also, did you use diaper service or buy new or used diapers & wash them yourself. Any high recommendations for any diaper service companies in Southern California? Thanks everyone!

Check out the cloth diapering group. They are much cheaper long term and can be used from newborn right through. And can be used for multiple kids

I bought new. 35 pocket diapers, 24 newborn prefolds, 3 newborn covers. Probably going to buy a few fitteds with wool covers for nights. I spent $300 for my entire stash that will last until she’s potty trained, plus wet bag for traveling. Going to hand wash because my washer and dryer take 2 hours each to run. Hand washing takes about an hour total but only 15-20 minutes actively cleaning. I’ll do it every 2 nights. Hang dry. 
Pros: health (they aren’t dyed/bleached with known carcinogens like most disposables are) and less rashes, environmental (I know I’m not contributing to thousands of diapers that take hundreds of years to break down in a landfill), cost ($300 is way less than anyone would ever spend on disposables), super cute prints, less likely to have blowouts, etc. 
Cons: maybe time? But to me that’s nothing compared to all of the pros.

We’ve done cloth from our first day home with our daughter - she’s 15 mos now and the two or three times I’ve had to use disposables (in the hospital, and then the first time we traveled) I HATED them. They smell so gross and gave her the only diaper rash she’s ever gotten - we use cloth 100% now, even for travel, and it’s really no big deal. For the first 6 mos while she was EBF, we were gifted a laundry service with cotton prefolds, and we owned and just hand-washed our own newborn covers (7 Rumparoos). Never had a blowout, but prefolds do take some learning how to situate them so they don’t leak by wicking. Once she started solids at 6 mos (and the number of changes she needed per day was dropping down) we switched to BumGenius pockets with the microfiber inserts they come with. I add a really absorbent hemp doubler for nighttime, and she goes all night without leaks. We have about 35 BGs total, two big diaper bags, and a couple travel dry-bags. We bought the first 20 nearly-new on Craigslist for $100, and have spent about another $200 on the rest new once we knew we liked them. I do laundry every 3-4 days, and hang them to dry on a foldable rack bc I’ve read it prolongs their life - so far they show no signs of losing absorbency or developing leaks through the impermeable PUL. A good diaper pail that holds in odors, like the Ubbi, is a must. Good luck - if you stick with it through the early learning curve, doing cloth is really great. I could never switch to disposables now.

I would said it's just not a good fit for my family. I have so many kids- laundry, cooking, cleaning, driving, homework, like my days are FULL when having 6 kids. I wouldn't add on cloth diapering; I rather do disposal, just change and throw out. Nothing more

I read somewhere that cloth diapering is actually more environmentally detrimental because of cotton farming practices but what do I know 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not a good fit for my family and I just can't do it My Mom had to with my brother 35 years ago because every disposable made his skin breakout I am still a little traumatized from so That's a no for me
