Getting over someone
My ex boyfriend and I were together for about a year. We met in his last year at uni & had an amazing relationship - we never fought, I loved him and to me it was close to perfect. He got a graduate job about 2 hours away from me (I still have 2 more years of uni left) but we had a long summer apart before this - I was away with friends and family and he lived far away. We had 2 and a half months apart and the distance was hard. After 2 months I knew something was up and he told me he wasn’t sure if he could see himself doing 2 years of long distance. I was confused because previously we were sure it was gonna be fine. I have a very full on course and we planned to see each other every 2 weekends. He told me the summer was so hard, and it made it remember how bad long distance was (he has done it once before with an ex-gf). It was a friendly break up - nothing terrible happened. I respected what he wanted even though he was confused himself. I wasn’t going to have a relationship which isn’t reciprocated. It has been difficult and when I thought I could move on, he messaged to chat. Since we broke up amicable I still feel I haven’t got closure and I can’t decide whether he did truly love me or not.
Do you think if he honestly loved him he would of at least tried? Or does the practicalities of life play a big part in love?
