Root canal

Hello ladies! I had a root canal job almost a week ago. The doctor prescribed me antibiotics and strong pain killers, and I take them as prescribed. My concern is my pain... tomorrow will be a week since the job was done, and the pain is still severe, and I feel like it’s getting worse actually. The tooth was done on Tuesday. But pain started Thursday night. Painkillers don’t kick in for at least an hour and a half, and after that, they bring my pain from 8 to 2. The prescribed painkiller is supposed to work for 6 hours, but within 4 hours max I just have to take ibuprofen to survive... is that the normal kind of pain??? I called the dentist office twice and they said it’s normal to still feel severe pain a week after a root canal job... however, the pain that is 8/10? I’ve never heard of anyone having that much pain... girls, should I call again and have them schedule an appointment to check it? Or should I wait a bit more? I lost sleep because the pain is so bad... nothing is swollen though, but when I touch the tooth with my tongue, it feels like something is stuck between my teeth, but floss and brushing don’t fix it
