Newborn has crusty eyes?

My almost 2 week old has had really watery, goopy and crusty eyes for the last 48 hours. Is this normal as her tear ducts start working?

Wash with sterile lid wipe, and put a few drops of breast milk in the eyes every time baby is nursing.

She might have clogged tear ducts. My youngest daughter had a clogged tear duct in her left eye and didn’t clear up until she was almost a year old and we considered eye surgery to correct the issue because she kept getting infections. Most clear up way before then though. Ask her pediatrician. Gentle eye massages can help unclog them. Use a clean, warm wash cloth to remove any discharge.

If it's just one eye she may have a clogged tear duct. That's exactly what happened to my daughter. Nothing they do for it just monitor it and keep it clean. If your Dr confirms that's what it is they say it clears up on its own by the time they are 1 or before. It's pretty normal all you do is clean with a warm cloth.

I would contact the nurses line/pediatrician.  It could be nothing or it could be pink eye.  When your baby is born, they put ointment on their eyes to try to prevent infection, but sometimes babies get it anyway.

Yes normal. Just use a clean damp washcloth to wipe them. Never use your fingers because of the risk of infecting them
