Would you let a 9 yo have a bedroom that’s in the finished basement?

So we are having a baby and we have 2 boys and a girl coming well my husband wants to put the almost 10 yo down stairs in the finishes basement it has a living room down there and stuff and I am just in the middle idk if it is a good idea.....idk if he is too young I feel like I’m handing an apartment to a kid. But at the same time it’s just a bedroom. What would you do? My husband refuses for 3yo and 9yo to share because the oldest can’t be right with his brother.

Will baby be staying in your room for a few months? Even if not, is sharing between 3 yr old and baby an option? Then a few years down the road if you want them to each have their own room at least the older child will be a bit older and hopefully more mature.

What do you mean "can't be right with his brother?" Is he cruel to him? Molesting him? You make it sound like he needs more supervision than the basement will allow for, yet that it isn't safe for him to be with his brother...I can see your dilemma. I had a basement bedroom at age 9...but I was a responsible kid. I did feel a bit shut off from the rest of the family and forgotten at times though and it was scary to be down there alone so there's that to consider.
