What kind of activities can you do with a 4 month old?

I have a 4 month old and I try to keep him busy when he's not sleeping or eating, but all I have for him are a few rattle toys and a walker besides his bed and swing, but I feel like that would get old so I'm curious as to what else I can do cause I try not to hold him to much?

First of all, you can’t hold your baby too much. The more you hold them the more their brains develop in a healthy manner and the healthier their attachment. Plus when you hold them upright against you or laying on their tummy on your chest you are helping their muscles get stronger. Having them lay in a swing/bouncer/crib for long periods of time or too frequently is actually not good for their skeletal or muscle development. Babies really just want interaction and to explore. You don’t have to go buy fancy toys or anything, just use whatever you have. Different textures and colors and sounds. Cycle their legs, play pat-a-cake with their hands and feet, sing to them, read to them in animated voices with funny faces. When you are cleaning pop them into a carrier and wear them, dance with them, etc. Just always make sure that you are supporting them physically when holding them and not giving them anything that they could swallow.
