⚠️⚠️Trigger warning- Stillbirth⚠️⚠️

I came across an article yesterday about a women who’s baby died during a free birth labour due to her having a UTI. As a mother who believes in supporting women to have (safe) empowering births and also a women who has personally experienced the pain of having a stillborn daughter the article really struck a cord with me. I find it very upsetting that so many women are having such negative experiences in hospitals that they would turn to something so drastic, especially in this case when a baby lost its life by something so easily prevented. Personally I am a big believer in either hospital birth or home birth with a medical professional on hand and also believe that testing is necessary during pregnancy to rule out serious complications such as GDB, preeclampsia, placenta previa etc. and at the end of the day I would rather a negative, medicated birth experience and a healthy baby.

Interested in other opinions? For or against free birth? Why? Anyone personally chose to have a free birth?

And let’s keep this pleasant, while I do not agree with this mother’s choices I also do not agree with the abuse she has received. My heart goes out to her.
