Okay so to start this off I want to say that yes, I know I should go to a doctor. But I am 17 and can’t drive myself and my mom doesn’t ever take her kids to the doctor unless they’re running a fever, throwing up every 10 minutes, have spots on body parts where there should not be spots, or there’s a bone sticking out of their skin. She’s a hard ass, I know.

Basically, I started having muscle cramps in my biceps and wrists and my right foot about 4 days ago. Well it’s been progressively getting worse. Now I feel like I pulled every muscle in my body from the chin down. It feels like I’m breaking bones when I walk or move my wrists too quickly. Even typing this hurts.

On top of that, I woke up with an extremely sore throat 2 days ago. One of my tonsils is significantly bigger than the other, my neck is sore to touch, not sure if my glands are swollen or not because like I said, it hurts to touch them. I can’t really eat any solid foods because it hurts SO BAD to swallow. I’ve never had a sore throat like this before and this is coming from someone that had strep 4 times in one summer.

I’ve been gargling with salt water, using cough drops, forced soup down my throat yesterday bc I was starving, staying hydrated etc. I even took a bath last night to try and relax my muscles, but nothing is working.

I explained all this to my mom but she doesn’t seem very concerned. Admittedly I am a bit of a hypochondriac, but I’m not exaggerating at all here. She doesn’t think that this is worth looking into because I don’t have a fever.

I’m concerned that it could be mono (classic symptoms) or maybe the start of the flu. If it is, I don’t really want to be around other people and spreading my germs. And if it’s mono then I should be resting, right?

I guess I’m asking what everyone thinks it could be and if I should try harder to get my mom to take me to the doctor.
