Is he social or lonely?

I took my little one to the park. There were 6 toddlers about his age (2 yrs) who were all playing individually. Mine went to all 6 trying to play with them but they just ignored him and kept playing by themselves. I have a fear that my baby will be like me. I was awkward shy and quiet all throughout school. I didnt break out of my shell till i was in my 2nd yr of college. I rly dont want him growing up like me. Was this just him being social or more like lonely and desperate? The other 6 kids didn't even play with each other so its not like they were leaving him out. They were ignoring each other as well. I just want him to grow up having friends. Being social and having confidence in himself. We dont have any mom friends so i decided to put him in day care twice a week so at least he would have the opportunity to interact with toddlers.
