I'm 5 months PP and exclusively pump. I have been exclusively pumping since shortly after coming home from the hospital. I currently have 136 bags (6 ounces each) of breastmilk in my deep freezer. It's definitely hard in the beginning, but it does get easier with time. I was a zombie the first 4-6 weeks. With my now 2 year old I dried up right before 3 months (I never had a good supply and didn't really have any knowledge on exclusively pumping) so I was determined to be successful this time around. My big goal is to get to the one year mark, but I didn't want to get too overwhelmed so I started small. My first goal was to get to 3 months (where I dried up last time) and now my goal is to get to 6 months which is at the end of this month. I was thinking about trying to figure out how much I would need in my deep freezer to get my daughter to the one year mark and stop pumping early, but I'm now considering pumping until she's one and giving her the frozen milk after (she gets some frozen milk now and I put in what I pump that day so I can use some of the older milk now and replace my stash with fresh milk). As much as I am obsessed with my production, I'm a firm believer in doing what's best for you and your family. It does take a toll on us and if you think about it people who exclusively pump have so much more to do than someone who breastfeeds or formula feeds. You are a warrior!!!!
Exclusively Pumping is really hard work.
I’m trying to gather a large stash so I can stop as early as possible! My original goal was 6 months, but I’m considering getting a deep freezer to try to make it to a year.
This is just so hard. Mentally and physically. My little is still only 1 month so I’m hoping it will get easier.
I’m grateful to have a good supply but it’s still taking its toll mentally.
