Ex boyfriend problems

So 2 days ago I broke up with my boyfriend, and things are really awkward at school now..I broke up with him because I know that my mother would never approve of him, and I felt bad for lying to her and keeping it a secret. I also just didn’t feel right when I was with him, I kept getting really weird and creepy vibes from him. I still really care about him and all, but he keeps saying I love you as friends ;) and he also keeps calling me babe and love. It’s just really creeping me out because we aren’t together anymore and I don’t know if he is just trying to get me back or if he’s trying to be funny and making a joke out of it, but he sounds really serious.
