Lainey as legal name is technically uncommon, but Elena and all its many spelling variations are common, and some of those kids will use Lainey as a nickname. So it becomes hard to know how common Lainey feels, when it's both a name and a nickname for a common name.

My best friends sister just had a baby girl and they named her Delaney nickname laney. It’s becoming more common.

My little sisters name is Delainey, I think it’s pretty much the best name out there but I’m biased. We usually call her Lainey, but I think it’s nice that she has the full name because it’s less nicknamey. She went to school with a Delaney and I went to school with a Laney and I’ve heard it randomly here and there, but I don’t feel it’s common at all, especially not her spelling.

It’s getting to be more popular. I have several friends that have named their littles Lainey, or Delaney N.N Laney, and I also grew up with a girl named Laney but she was the only one I knew back then lol.

It’s becoming somewhat more common. I also propose to people who love this name that you go with the shorter, gender neutral Lane (obviously I’m biased). Lainey is really cute but I grew out of it pretty fast and am now quite glad my name is not so girly. On the other hand, she could by Lainey forever if it suits her. Just an idea!
