Initiate all the time

My husband and I have been married 2 yrs and are trying to conceive the past 6 months. It seems like the 2-3 months the only time we "have fun" is if I initiate it either by telling him to wake me up when he gets home (he works 1pm-1amish) or actually starting something. Am I the only one? Is there something I can say/do so he knows that I want it without being blunt?
