Am I being insecure?

Hey ladies, I've been wearing my hair natural for about 4 years now. I'll do braids occasionally, but mostly wear it curly. I've just recently had it straightened to see my length, and the guy in my life said it's the best he's seen it. Am I being irrational for feeling kind of hurt?

I see how that can be hurtful. Guys don’t look at things that deep though.... if you rarely straighten it (which I understand... naturalista here as well) then it was a new look that he isn’t used to. Plus European (straight hair) is often viewed as “better” than our curly kinky type of hair. You look gorgeous in all three ☺️

Honestly you’re pulling off all of the hair styles above!!!! And I don’t think he meant you look less pretty when it’s not straight. Guys don’t think very deeply before they say something in my experience so I wouldn’t think he meant to hurt you.

I would be hurt too. But honestly, guys can be pretty clueless and maybe what he meant was that it was something new and exciting for him, not necessarily that your hair looks bad naturally or braided. You look great in all 3 styles btw! 
Like when my bf once said I look my best wearing make up 🙄 that took a lot of talking to get over! He didn’t mean he doesn’t like me without it or that I’m unattractive but that make up enhances my features etc. They just don’t understand 🙈
