I need to vent and get feedback. I was married to my son's father for five years. He was great when we were dating but as soon as we got married, things took a drastic turn. He was emotionally abusive. He stole from me and lied to me. So much bad happened and my family stood by me and supported us. I am no longer with my son's father. In June, I finally started dating again. I love this man. He is wonderful to my son and I. I am white and he is black. It was never an issue for me. As soon as my ex found out, he called my grandma. She disowned me. Now my family is torn. Shockingly to me, other family members disowned me too. Honestly I never even knew it was an issue. I was told it was better for me to be with my ex who has been a drug dealer at various times because he is white than my black boyfriend who served three years In the Army,  is National guard now, has a college degree in accounting, and makes good money bar tending. I love my family but I feel I need to stand my ground. My parents are backing me.
