If you are REALLY REALLY REALLY wealthy then it makes sense. Especially if there’s a family business involved that needs to stay protected. My husband and I both went into this marriage with nothing. We had no assets to protect.

Yes, it protects both parties, during a divorce emotions can run high and things can get ugly. You can forget that this person you may now despise was someone you once loved. I would also encourage people to revisit them or even consider a post nuptial agreement in good times.
