Trying to incorporate pumping

Heidi

My LO is 3 weeks old and is exclusively breast feed. I go back to work in 4 weeks, so I'm trying to get pumping sessions in. I've talked to lactation at my hospital, so I know that pumping after a good feeding is a good place to start. But I cannot figure out how to get sessions in during the day.

My son eats all the time. He sleeps and eats. Repeat. If I pump at the end of a feeding it seems like he is not satisfied at the next one...and then he starts tugging and pulling at my nipples. I'm not bottle feeding yet to avoid nipple confusion because getting to this point has been hard enough.

I'm only getting pumping sessions in at night. He sleeps 5-6 hours between feedings at night so I know I have the time to replenish then.

I don't know what to do. I need to get my supply up and start storing, but his eating habits during the day just don't seem to work for that.

Anyone else in the same boat?
