Almost everyone is telling me to work as long as I can but I really cant stand my job any longer. I want to go on Mat. leave asap. How many weeks before your due date did you take your mat. leave ?

I plan on working until I can’t anymore. I’d rather use my time off to spend as much time with the baby as I can because I’m limited on how much PTO I have and don’t want to waste too much.

I went on maternity leave with my first child when my doctors literally forced me to go on bed rest and I was 8 months pregnant.

My job requires a doctors note to start maternity leave. My plan was to start once the doctor was willing to sign off, usually at 40 weeks. But I ended up on bedrest at 30 weeks which forced the start of leave. It stinks because I’ll most likely run out of FMLA before 6 weeks pp. I suggest meeting with hr and seeing what your options are. Especially, if you use up time before you’re released back to work.

I'm taking mine at 37 weeks. My job can be pretty physical and I'm on my feet a lot as well and having trouble with swelling already (32 weeks). I was going to work until 39 weeks but I found out about a month ago that my company only rolls over 1 week of pto at the beginning of the year, so it was use it or lose it.

37+1 when I was admitted. I delivered via c-section 37+2. Found out after the fact I could have been on short term disability separate from maternity leave for over a month due to a blood condition I developed. I was working maybe 1-2 days/week due to appointments. Burned so many sick days that I didn’t have to. Still a bit bitter about it.

I'm going on Mat leave Feb 11th. Taking a weeks vacation before that so done as of Feb 4th. I'm due Feb 25th. My doctor agreed this was a good idea and would give me time to get settled before the baby.
