Hey guys! So as the title says I’m about to have my first baby. I’m 33 weeks this week!

I am a first generation breastfeeder (literally the ONLY person in my family wanting to breastfeed ever) and so I really am at a loss for a lot of things.

Ideally I would like to be able to breastfeed on the boob as well as have a small stock of breast milk. Nothing too wild, just enough so my husband can warm up a couple bottles every now and then. My doctor did tell me not to pump at all for 4 weeks until a supply is built.

I bought the Spectra S 2 pump as well as a hand pump to catch overflow from the boob I’m not feeding on.

My question is this: how do you establish a pumping routine around baby’s feeding schedule? My assumption was that I could pump on whatever boob he didn’t eat on last and do it that way but I guess that’s not right? Someone also told me after he’s fed I can pump on the same boob I just fed him from for a few minutes as well.

I’m just curious how other mamas do it. I don’t want to give up getting to actually breastfeed but the convenience of being able to use a bottle every now and then along with my husband getting a more active role in the process is so important to me.
