Back story: *scroll down for iud "review"*

I just think people should hear about this. People like me who suffered for so long with no answers. Long story short I have endometriosis but the story to my diagnosis was a long and depressing one. Doctors didn't believe me, didn't believe my pain. They told me to go on the pill but I was uncomfortable with that plus I'm already on multiple prescriptions and I didn't want to be taking even more pills. Being focused on just getting me on the pill they missed my diagnosis for years. Moving on from that and the depression I faced from crying out and no one listening to me, I finally found a doctor who listened to me and suggested I get Kyleena. She warned me it would be a hit or miss and probably painful (especially cause I was a virgin at the time). It's been a while since I've had the iud in and I just wanted to share my experience with others who may have gone through the same.

Insertion: painful yes but it's very quick and personally I can handle discomfort for couple of minutes vs 5 years of pain. But my case (cause I was a virgin) was a bit more complicated. She had to first open me up and make sure she can reach my cervix, stretching me and basically "popping my cherry". I came in another day when I was ending my period and the whole procedure took 8 min. Once it was in I had a big cramp (common cause the uterus' instinct is to contract to get this foreign thing out). The rest of the day I just stayed at home with a heating pad.

The following month: I would experience cramping and I bled everyday for the entire month (it was very light). My skin broke out quite a bit too.

Now: Slowly after the first month I just stopped bleeding completely, skin calmed down and cramps stopped completely. My endometriosis was tamed and I dont worry about tracking my period (cause I don't have one), I don't miss school, work, dates, going out etc. I got my life back. After 5 years of pain I can now live. It's sad to look back and see how much my illness took from me.

Side note: it's not for everyone a lot of people have horror stories and have terrible cramping, bleeding, acne etc. In my opinion risks come with every form of birth control and I researched each one extensively and thought this would be my best option. You will never know until you try cause each body is different. If you have endo I highly consider this. I don't even remember what it's like to have a period.
