Cooking?

Ladies how hard was your SO on you about cooking? Like a girl like me I don’t get in the kitchen and cook and I never brought it up to my SO. I know some ladies who don’t cook or don’t know how to cook. Is cooking for your husband or SO really a big deal in a relationship? I mean I’m not completely clueless on cooking I know how to do a lot it’s just that I don’t do it. I’m 20 and my mom thinks I just flat out don’t know how but I know how to look for good meat, season it well etc but I haven’t ever prepared a entire meal. And I know the basics like nachos etc

I think everyone comes into a relationship with different expectations and gestures that mean a lot to them. You should find out what matters most to each other. And if they have any unspoken expectations that they picked up from their parents or previous relationships. It's about finding out what makes the other person feel loved and intentionally doing those things.
My husband really loves that I cook three healthy meals a day for our family, but he could not care less about whether the house is clean or not. I care more about the house being clean, but if I only have time to do one then I'll cook because it makes him feel loved. He knows that I would love for him to do the dishes rather than buy me flowers haha so he does chores for me instead of buying me gifts. Everyone is different!

In my opinion cooking is a team effort, when my husband works I cook, when I work he cooks and when we both have a day off we cook together.

Cooking is a skill all people should learn. Like anything else, it just takes practice and trial and error. You don't need to be a master chef, but know the basics and be able to follow a recipe.
I wouldn't want to be with a man that expected me to do all of the cooking because I have a vagina. My expectation is that cooking is a shared responsibility.

I knew how to bake growing up but not how to cook, specifically meat since I’ve always been a vegetarian, but hubby watched me learn and loves everything I make. If I didn’t cook I’m sure we’d figure something out but it’s rewarding, and saves a ton of money. Pinterest exists so I don’t know how anyone “can’t cook”. 
I made filet mignon with bacon wrapped asparagus and a twice baked potato for our 5 year wedding anniversary last week, I’ve never made any of those things but I understand how to follow directions and hubby said it was the best meal he’s ever had. 
It’s not as daunting as it looks. Buy a meat thermometer and look shit up online, it comes together somehow.

I grew up learning my mom's recipes ever since I was a  little girl. We  are Mexican and cooking was huge in our home so I know how to cook and bake. My husband wanted a woman who is good in the kitchen, he expressed that when we got together. (We are both a bit traditional in that sense) I  love taking care of him, as he is the provider and works hard. Don't get me wrong, he's amazing at cooking as well. He'll sometimes give me a break and be the one to prepare dinner and he never fails to impress me.

Me and husband both know very little when it comes to cooking. We got married in March and up until then I didnt know how to make anything without a box. But its not a big deal for our relationship. He will cook most of the time because his knowledge on cooking is larger than mine, but occasionally I will cook. Depends on what we want to eat because one of us makes it better than the other or only one of us knows how to make it.
